I Had a Blast Photographing These Gluten-Free Baked Goods (They Were Delicious, Too!
Rachel Lebovitz is a fellow home-based entrepreneur in Highland Park, NJ. But while I repurposed my basement into a product and portrait photography studio, Rachel has turned her basement space into a full-fledged Kosher gluten-free, allergy-friendly bakery.
Recently, Rachel asked me to photograph her new line of breads and pizza dough. She brought a box full of mostly-baked goods, pizza toppings, and props, and we turned our studio into a bakery and food photography set.
The place smelled amazing.
Behind the Scenes: Rachel adds finishing touches to a gluten-free personal pie in my studio.

The secret ingredient was lighting, props, and imagination. My studio is a flexible but plain space. We used a combination of faux-tabletop and background surfaces as well as nice bakery-themed props that Rachel brought. The result was a series of richly-layered food photos.
